Assignment:
You must decide the theme for the project based on an art movement.(art deco, surrealism, pop art). Create a look and redesign 2 or more articles of clothing. Create a pattern based on the first two articles of clothing you have redesigned then put it on another article of clothing. The project must use multiple Layer Masks. You must use adjustments, modes and filters in the project.
The requirements for this assignment were to pick a theme, I chose pop art. Choose two articles of clothing, I chose a coat and a shoe, and using photoshop create a design based on the art style chosen and use adjustments, modes and filters.
The way I designed the coat is unique. I chose pop art because it's colorful and fun and I thought it would be interesting to create a pattern inspired by pop art on the coat and the shoe.
I used photoshop to create my composition. I was able to layer a bunch of pop art photos onto my articles of clothing and use the paintbrush tool and the clone stamp tool to put it all together. I used photoshop to overlay some of the photos that I wanted to add onto the coat.
The symbolism behind my photo is how bright colors can make any article of clothing unique and not what you typically see which makes it fun.
My photo represents a fantasy in a way because there is a lot going on, especially with the coat. It's also very different and the colors are very bright, so I don't think the majority of people would be interested in wearing the articles of clothing that I designed, including me. However, after researching pop art I thought it would be interesting and fun to recreate something inspired by it.
With the coat, a principle of design is variety because I used different shapes, colors, patterns etc. Color would be the element of art because of the variety of colors that I included. With the shoe, the element of art seen is texture, which I used the brush setting to create and a principle of design is unity because one part of the shoe is all covered with an image, a pattern or is painted.
